This philosophy drives our every action, and this past year has been an exciting one at Affinity, with a number of noteworthy milestones. From innovative financial solutions that have empowered your personal and business aspirations, to impactful community initiatives that have made a difference in the lives of many, each achievement is a testament to our dedication to advancing your financial wellbeing.

A look back on the past year

Our proudest moments always center on the work we do to advance our relationships with members and support your wellbeing. At the beginning of this year, we launched the Wellbeing and Your Wallet Index, a quarterly survey of consumer sentiment in the Mid-Atlantic region. This data provides valuable insights into the thoughts, concerns and challenges our members and like-minded individuals are facing. We have issued findings from four surveys and used the insights to inform the support and services we provide. We look forward to continuing this into the new year.

We continued to advance our commitment to growth, even amid an increasingly challenging environment. We grew our team to ensure our service commitments remain high, adding a new Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, Director of Customer Relationship Management, Director of IT, and Vice Presidents of Wealth Management and Contact Center Operations. We also opened two new branches this year - one in Madison, New Jersey in the spring and one in River Edge, New Jersey in the fall. These branches strengthened our foothold in the respective communities and will allow us to more deeply serve our members in these areas.

We also made significant strides in our work with our members and the surrounding communities. We held our second annual Impact Day in October, where over 300 employees contributed over 1,000 hours of service to various organizations across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and more. We celebrated I Love My Credit Union Day, International Credit Union Day and Member Appreciation Week in our branches, showcasing our ongoing partnership with each of you.

Finally, we continued our pursuit of showcasing our overall leadership within the financial industry. We published the second edition of our highly anticipated Cost of the Day at the Shore Index, this year expanding our research to include average costs at New York area beaches, too. We also partnered with Green Check to introduce a cannabis banking program to provide banking services to legal cannabis-related businesses.

An award-winning year

In addition to the initiatives we have in place, we often seek opportunities to spotlight our team’s great work through awards. We are thrilled to share that Affinity was the recipient of six awards in 2023, from Forbes, NJBIZ, The Wall Street Journal’s BuySide and more. Here’s a full list:
